Carolina Sabers Paintball Team
BYLAWS
Provisions of the Bylaws shall not be in conflict with the Team Agreement.
Article I. Purpose
To promote the sport of paintball through fair play, sportsmanship, and a friendly attitude on and off the field. To provide an organization where diverse individuals can share their love of the sport in a positive way.
Article II. Team Status and Eligibility
Section 2.01 Team Status Levels
- (a) Full Team Member: Full team member receives all benefits of a team member. This includes sponsorship benefits, and web site amenities.
- Benefits include:
- Discounts on Cases of Paint from the sponsoring home field
- No Entry fees at sponsoring home field.
- Specific Discount codes to other minor sponsors
- Ability to earn team paid entry into events through-out the year.
- Usage of team purchased supplies (Barrel Swamps, Paint Loaders, etc.)
- Benefits include:
- (b) Reserve Team Member: Reserve Team member plays with the team, but does not receive any sponsorship benefits.
Section 2.02 Membership Guidelines
- (a) In order to qualify for Full Team member status, a new candidate must be sponsored by an active team member.
(b) New candidate must have played with team at one practice or event.
(c) During the team practices, a candidate will be evaluated on teamwork, commitment, and skill.
(d) Candidates must acquire their own marker. Existing team members can recommend marker selections if necessary.
(e) Candidates will be voted in by the active team members. - (f) New Team member needs to provide Biographical information for update to the web site. This information will not be shared outside of the team and sponsors.
(h) A Team member may only be an active member of the Carolina Sabers. Membership in another team will cause a change in the team members status as listed in Section 2.03
- (a) A Team member’s status can be moved from Full to Reserve status if the team member:
(i) Fail to pay yearly dues.
(ii) Failure to attend 3 consecutive regular meetings or practices without being excused by the Team Captain from attending,
(iii) Failure to attend 6 regular meetings or practices in any twelve (12) month period.
(b) A Reserve Team Member can have their status upgraded to Full status by:
(i) Making a written request to the Team Captain
(ii) Pay Team Member Administrative Fee (if not already paid).
(iii) Pay yearly team dues (Based on status, a team member can have their dues pro-rated). - (b) If a team member is found to be an active member on another team, then that member's status as a team member shall be fully revoked.
- (a) If team member was previously a full team member:
(b) Pay yearly team dues. - (c) Team members that have had their status revoked because of membership in another team, shall be able to try out for the team.
Article III. Team Responsibilities
Section 3.01 Team members are expected to follow and uphold the Bylaws of the team.
Section 3.02 Team members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional, safe, and sportsman-like manner.
Section 3.03 Team members will play as part of the team and not as an individual. They will communicate with their fellow teammates and give assistance when necessary.
Section 3.04 Team members are expected to make practices and planned events unless extenuating circumstances occur (Work, Illness, etc.)
Section 3.05 Team members will obtain a team jersey for the cost of $85.00. The camouflage pattern is Marine Digital Woodland. This does not apply to tactical vests and other equipment.
Section 3.06 Team members will be given a team t-shirt for practice and off-field events.
Article IV. Meetings
Section 4.01 Meetings will be held at least once a month and scheduled during the preceding team meeting and at other times as deemed necessary. Meetings may be canceled or rescheduled by a majority vote of all team members present in a quorum at a given meeting.
Section 4.02 Team practice will be held at least once a month on a Saturday. When possible, practice will occur at the sponsored home field.
Section 4.03 In the month of December, an annual team meeting will be held to recognized team members, team accomplishments, and plan for events of the next year.
Section 4.04 Special meetings may be called at any time by a team officer. In all cases, special meetings shall be limited to the stated purpose, which must be communicated in advance to all Team members.
Section 4.05 A quorum of 75% of team members shall be present at any regular or special meeting in order for team business to be conducted. A majority vote of the team members present is needed to approve any team business not otherwise specified in the Bylaws herein.
Section 4.06 A majority of team members shall be present at any regular, special, or Annual Meeting before the election of officers or amendments to the Team Agreement or Bylaws can commence. A majority vote of the Partners present is needed to approve amendments to the Team Agreement or Bylaws, or to elect officers.
Section 4.07 Each Team member shall have one vote in all matters regardless of his capital account balance.
Article V. Team Positions and Duties
Section 5.01 Team Officers shall be elected by a majority vote of the Team members present, or by appropriate proxy, to the following positions and duties:
- (a) Team Captain: Sets meeting dates and locations, appoints committees, presides over meetings, sees that the resolutions passed by the Team are carried out, and develops the training program and events for the Team.
(b) Public Relations Officer: One of the moderators of the Carolina Sabers web site and any individual with specialized communications skills that can be utilized by the team. Keeps the public image of the team in adherence to the Mission / Purpose statement as listed in the Bylaws. Also organizes any photograph and video sessions as well as press releases.
(c) Financial Officer: Keeps a record of the Team’s receipts and disbursements and of the members’ interests in the Team.
(d) Quartermaster: Coordinates gear, paint, and air for events and establishes communications between players who can make an event, but do not have possession of desired gear that is in possession of a player that cannot make the event. Enforce all safety rules.
(e) Master at Arms: Coordinates honors, ceremonies, awards, and uniforms as needed. Referees individual duels and arbitrates disputes. Assists the QM as needed, taking over the position if the QM is unable to continue in that office. Enforce all safety rules.
(f) Team Member: Has signed the Team Agreement, been voted into the Team, and signed a statement agreeing to abide by the Team Agreement and Bylaws of the Team.
Section 5.02 One additional non-elected team positions are maintained. These positions can be filled by multiple personnel at any time.
- (a) Combat Medic: Any person with current first aid certification or training is encouraged to identify themselves to the team. The XO is responsible for maintaining the names and skills of these individuals. During an event, one or more of these team members are selected to be designated medics. Any medical emergency is handled by the designated medics. The combat medic position is held as long as the individual has current certification and desires the position.
(b) Radio Operator: Any person that has training in the Carolina Sabers radio standards and can operate in the communication capacities during scenario events.
Article VI. Removal of an Officer
Section 6.01 If an officer of the Team (Public Relations Officer, Supply Officer or Financial Partner) does not fulfill duties required as described in Article III, that Team member will be notified in writing of the meeting at which removal from office will be discussed and voted upon. At that meeting, the Team member may present statements to the Team in an effort to retain the position.
Section 6.02 Removal will occur if so voted by majority of the Team members present at the meeting or voting by appropriate proxy.
Article VII. Guests
Section 7.01 Team members may invite guests to any meeting or event of the Team.
Section 7.02 If a team practice is listed as a ‘Closed’ practice, prior approval from the Team Captain is needed.
Article VIII. Contributions
Section 8.01 Team Members will pay yearly dues in the amount of $120.00. This amount will go towards team equipment and supplies. Team dues will also be used to advertise and improve the status of the team.
Article IX. Annual Accounting
Section 9.01 Each calendar year, a full and complete account of the condition of the Team shall be made to the members. The annual accounting shall take place at the Annual Meeting for the preceding year.
Section 9.02 All financial transactions shall be reviewed semi-annually by the Team Officers.
Article X. Bank Account
Section 10.01 The Team may select a bank for the purpose of opening a bank account. Funds in the bank account shall be withdrawn by debit card transactions by any Team member designated by the Team.
